Trojans Sweep UAPB in Dominating Performance

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With a dominating performance, Little Rock volleyball swept UAPB in three sets (25-6, 25-11, 25-14) on Saturday afternoon.
Little Rock led the entirety of the first set with the exception of a brief tie at 1-1. After the tie, the Trojans scored six straight points to take a 7-1 lead. Beginning at 12-5, Little Rock scored eight consecutive points to take a 20-5 lead. Little Rock easily cruised to a 25-6 win over UAPB and finished the set on a 13-1 run. The Trojans hit .524 for the frame compared to UAPB's -.190. Miona Milovanovic finished the set with five kills on six attempts and no errors, while libero Priscila Almeida hauled in seven digs. 
The second set was more of the same as Little Rock scored 10 straight points to take a 13-3 lead after an early 3-3 tie. The Trojans continued the offensive, taking a 19-5 lead for the Golden Lions delivered three straight points on a kill, ace and Trojan attack error. Ahead 19-8, Little Rock finished the set on a 6-3 run to win 25-11 and take a 2-0 lead for the match. Marina Avram ended the set with a match-leading 8 kills on 11 attempts. Little Rock hit .467 for the set compared to UAPB's -.069.
The final set was a bit tighter as UAPB kept it close throughout the frame. Late in the frame, UAPB only trailed by three at 17-14, but Little Rock scored eight consecutive points to finish the set and match with a 25-14 win.
Avram led the Trojans with 13 kills, tying the career-high she set against Central Arkansas. She also hit a career-high .684 on a team-high 19 attempts.
Edina Selimovic finished the match with eight kills and four total blocks, while Milovanovic ended the contest with six kills.
Megan Mathis earned 28 assists with three kills and two block assists.
Sydnee Martin was clutch on the serve as she finished with a season-high four aces. Martin and Kelsey Leech each finished the match with five digs.
Senior libero Priscila Almeida came through with a match-leading 15 digs. 
Freshman Taylor Lindberg tallied a season-high four kills, while Carolee Dillard recorded three kills and one block assists.
As a team, Little Rock hit a season-high .418 with 37 kills and four errors on just 79 attempts against UAPB.
The Trojans will return to action later this evening as they face tournament-host Memphis at 7 p.m.
