Trojans Ready for Reddies on Saturday

LITTLE ROCK – With three weeks to go until the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, Little Rock swimming and diving travels to Henderson State for its final regular-season meet on Saturday at 1 p.m., in Arkadelphia.

This will be the third time this season that both teams have met. The Trojans and Reddies first met in October as Little Rock earned a 170-112 win at home. The second meeting occurred during the Little Rock Christmas Invitational as the Trojans saw four school records fall in their first-place performance.

This will be Little Rock's first road meet since knocking off Evansville in early November, and it will be the Trojans' first visit to Henderson State since November of 2009. The Trojans have claimed the past three dual meets against Reddies.

Henderson State is coming off a 128-104 win against cross-street rival Ouachita Baptist last Friday night.

"We are looking forward to wrapping up our regular season with a short trip to Henderson State," head coach Amy Burgess said. "It has been a while since we traveled for competition, and we are hoping it will be a good, last test before heading to Carbondale for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship."

Last time out, Little Rock earned a win over Ouachita Baptist, but fell to North Texas and Southern Illinois.

"The team has been working hard and getting better and better every week," Burgess said. "This weekend we are shortening the events to 50s and 100s of the strokes, which will help fine tune our speed work in competition."

After Saturday, Little Rock will travel to Carbondale, Ill., for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship beginning on Feb. 17.
