Trojans Drop Heartbreaker at Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Little Rock soccer team lost a heartbreaker at Oklahoma State on Tuesday night as the Cowgirls scored with three minutes remaining to secure a 1-0 victory.

Little Rock (11-7-1) had held strong on defense against Oklahoma State (9-6-3), keeping the Big 12 Conference foe off the scoreboard for 87 minutes.

But with overtime looming, Julia Lenhardt got her first goal of the year for the Cowgirls with a shot to the far post from the corner of the 6-yard box.

Trojan goalie Sara Small was excellent all night, making six official saves and making many more plays on dangerous Oklahoma State crosses and passes.

Just four minutes before Oklahoma State's goal, Little Rock nearly broke the tie in its favor when Fali Garuba headed a throw-in over the Cowgirl goalkeeper and off the bottom of the crossbar. The ball bounced off the bar and straight into the ground, but Oklahoma State was there to clear it off the line.

With the regular season now complete, the Trojans will advance to the postseason next week. Little Rock, the No. 3 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, will take on No. 6 seed ULM at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Alabama, on November 2 at 1 p.m.
