LITTLE ROCK – With a 4-1 record in dual meets this season, Little Rock swimming and diving will look to make it 5-1 as it hosts conference-foe Evansville at 1 p.m., on Saturday in the Donaghey Aquatic Center.
Â
Saturday's meet will also be the final home meet of the season for Little Rock as seniors
Courtney Coe,
Kayla Grimm and
Jinson Kang compete in the Donaghey Aquatic Center for the final time. The three will honored prior to Saturday's meet.
Â
"I'm extremely proud of what the seniors have accomplished since they've been here," head coach
Amy Burgess said. "Where we are as a team is because of them. They've provided great leadership through the years, and they've done a great job of setting traditions by keeping things strong and growing. We want to honor what they've done here by swimming fast and swimming for them. It's going to be a very tough class to say goodbye to in February."
Â
Little Rock earned its first-ever win against a Missouri Valley Conference opponent last season when it defeated Evansville 145-136 on the road.
Â
Last time out, the Trojans earned two wins against Saint Louis, a win against Western Illinois and a win against McKendree before taking their first loss of the year to Marshall.
Â
"This is by far the best start to a season we've had," Burgess said. "I'm very proud of the girls. They've dug deep. We haven't really seen the phenomenal times, but it has really come down to racing. That's what we've really been focusing on. When we compete in these bigger meets like in Kansas or at the conference championships, the racing will be there and the training will be behind it."
Â
After Saturday, Little Rock will have two weeks to prepare for the Kansas Classic taking place from Nov. 18 to Nov. 20 at the Capitol Federal Natatorium in Topeka, Kansas. There, the Trojans will face Kansas, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Arizona and Northern Iowa.
