LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock volleyball earned its first victory of the 2016 season
on Friday afternoon, downing UAPB by a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13) score.
Edina Selimovic topped the Trojans with 10 kills and also added seven service aces, tying for the seventh-most in program history. The Trojans had 16 aces as a team, tying for the 10th-most in program history.
Carolee Dillard tallied nine kills to finish second on the team while
Miona Milovanovic had eight and tallied a career-high hitting percentage of .500 on 16 swings.
Taylor Lindberg recorded 30 assists and
Hope Larmour led the way with seven digs.
The first set saw the Trojans pull away after an early back-and-forth with the Lions. Little Rock would wind up winning the set by 11 points thanks to four kills each from Dillard and Selimovic. Little Rock hit .545 in the frame and put up four blocks.
Little Rock won the second set by the same score, earning seven service aces to help extend their lead to as many as 12 points during the set.
In the third set, the Trojans came away with a 12-point victory thanks once again to a strong service game. The Lions got as close as one point at 11-10 before Selimovic's service run of seven games gave the Trojans the lead for good.
Sydnee Martin ended the match with five aces, setting a new career high.
For the fifth consecutive match, Little Rock led the match with double-digit blocks at 11.
Little Rock is back on the court
on Friday at 6 p.m. to battle Mississippi State.
