TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Little Rock volleyball (3-5) earned its second straight victory as the Trojans earned a 3-1 win (25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21) over Florida A&M (2-5) on Thursday night at the Al Lawson Center.
Veronica Marin and
Miona Milovanovic each tallied double-digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively.
Carolee Dillard led the Trojans with 12 total blocks (five solo and seven assisted).
Little Rock took the first set by an 11-point margin of victory, its largest lead of the night. Marin led the set with four kills.
The second set was much closer as the two squads stayed within four points up until 20-18. With a six-point run, Little Rock kept up the momentum and finished off the set to take a two-set lead into the intermission. Milovanovic led the set with four kills while Dillard recorded five total blocks.
With Little Rock leading 21-17 in the third set, FAMU went on an 8-2 to steal the frame and force a fourth set.
The Trojans led the entirety of the fourth set and took its largest lead of the frame at 20-13. The Rattlers battled back to cut the Trojan lead to two at 23-21, but a
Marina Avram kill and a block by
Taylor Lindberg ended the match.
Lindberg led the match with 34 assists while
Sydnee Martin had a career-high 27 digs.
As a team, Little Rock recorded 20.5 total blocks, tying for the sixth-most in a match in program history. The Trojans 11 solo blocks rank as the second-most in a match in the rally-scoring era and fourth-most all-time.
Little Rock will return to action against Baylor tomorrow at 10 a.m., at Tully Gymnasium on the campus of Florida State. The Trojans will then play No. 13 Florida State tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
