Curry Announces Early Recruiting Class for 2018

 

LITTLE ROCK - Seven players are set to join the Little Rock baseball program as head coach Chris Curry announced the early signees and additions for 2018 recruiting class.

" First of all, I would like to personally thank assistant coach Mike Silva, our recruiting coordinator, and Noah Sanders for their tireless work on the road and being away from their families," Curry started off with. "I can't compliment the coaching staff enough on the job that they've done assembling a team that's going to allow us to have a chance win now and in the future."

The 2018 recruiting class so far includes three players that will be out of high school and four players who are currently junior college student-athletes.

Dillon Delgadillo | RHP | 5'10" | 190

Delgadillo is a right handed pitcher from Corpus Christi, Texas, and signs with the team from Western Texas College. In the 2017 season, Delgadillo had a 6-4 record in 59.2 innings pitched. He posted an ERA of 7.69 with 7.54 strikeouts per nine innings. He attended Richard King High School where he earned the Newcomer of the Year award.

Ty Gordon | RHP | 6'5" | 225

Gordon is right handed pitcher from Paragould, Arkansas, and is currently playing at Three Rivers College. Gordon pitched 30.2 innings where he had 9.98 strikeouts per nine innings. While attending Greene County Technical High School, he earned all state honors his junior year.

Alexander Langford | C / UTL | 5'6" | 175

Langford joins the Tojans from Millington, Tennessee, where he preps at Tipton Rosemark Academy. He was the Defensive Player of the Year for his team his freshman, sophomore and junior years and earned offensive player of the year his sophomore year. His sophomore and junior seasons, he earned All-District and All-Region awards while also being named a super sophomore by the Tennessee Baseball Report.

Nathan Lyons | INF | 5'10" | 185

Lyons joins the team from Rogers, Arkansas, and is an infielder at Bentonville High School.  At Bentonville, he earned accolades for All-Conference, All-State Super Sophomore, and is a three-year letterman.

Eli Sievert | RHP | 6'2" | 195

Sievert is a right-handed pitcher from Thornton, Colorado, and currently plays at Trinidad State Junior College. During the 2017 season, Sievert was 6-0 in 10 appearances. He pitched 44.1 innings with an ERA of 3.25 while striking out 10.76 per nine innings. Sievert attended Rocky Mountain Lutheran High School where he earned First-Team All-State honors.

Milton Smith | OF | 5'9" | 165

Smith is an outfielder from Starkville, Mississippi, and plays for Meridian Community College where he was second-team All-Conference in 2017. He batted .381 in 147 appearances at the plate. He had 27 runs batted in with 24 stolen bases and had an on-base percentage of .439. At Starkville High School he was a four sport athlete as well as an All-State player in baseball, he ran track, and played football, and soccer.

Miguel Soto | INF | 6'0" | 185

Soto is an infielder from the TNXL Baseball Academy and Florida Virtual School in Kissimmee, Florida. He is a four-year letterman and helped his team win the 2017 FHSAA Blue Devil Classic and the 2017 Perfect Game National Baseball Academy Showdown. Soto comes from a very athletic family as his mom and dad are both former Puerto Rican track and field Olympic athletes and his cousin, Francisco Lopez, pitches for the Red Sox minor league organization. Soto has a long list of accolades that includes 2016 Prospect Wire Southeast Champion tournament MVP, 2016 USA Baseball National Team Championships Elite Eight Team, 2016 Prospect Wire World Series Champion, 2016 Prep Baseball Report Underclass Games Standout, 2016 Perfect Game WWBA World Championship Elite Eight Team, 2017 Prep Baseball Report Summer Trials Standout, 2017 Florida Diamond Club Classic East Selection Team, 2017 Perfect Game WWBA World Championship All-Tournament Team and was named in the 2018 Class Prep Baseball Report State Rank Top-100.

"We feel this class will be a great balance to our large 2017 class and meets the specific needs to match it," Curry said. "Our target was pitchers who are experienced strike throwers that we feel can contribute immediately as well athletic position players who will have a chance to play early."
