LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock swimming and Diving teams are coming off a long road trip weekend where they competed in the St. Louis Double Dual on Friday night and the Evansville Triple Dual on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans came away 1-1 during the double dual versus Saint Louis University and Lindenwood-Belleville. Saint Louis was able to edge out Little Rock 141-82, but the Trojans were able to take the win over Lindenwood-Belleville 174-39.

After the meet in St. Louis, the Trojans then hopped on a bus and went to Evansville, Indiana, to compete against Indiana State, Butler and Evansville in a triple dual on Saturday. Little Rock claimed a victory over Butler (163-64), but fell both to Indiana State (156-83) and narrowly to Evansville (134-108).

"This Weekend was all about G.R.I.T.," head coach
Amy Burgess said. "Though the scores did not show what this team is fully capable of, we saw many improvements and progress towards our ultimate goal of conference."

Saint Louis Double Dual
Saint Louis began the meet gaining big points in the 200-yard medley relay after taking both first and second place. The team of
Laura Ruiz Astorga,
Nuria Gallego Murcia,
Isabelle Finzen and
Emma Doll came in third place with a finish time of 1:52.24.
Regan Lawrence,
Palmer Ristroph,
Cassie Sanchez and
Courtney Goff took a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:55.76.

The Trojans best relay finish came in the 200-yard freestyle relay where Doll, Goff, Ruiz Astorga and Imre Van Huyssteen finished second with a 1:39.46 time. Lawrence,
Claire Bristow, Sanchez and
Ann Kharlamova took fourth-place clocking in at 1:43.46.

Little Rock saw first-place finishes in three individual events for the evening.
Tori Fryar claimed another first-place victory in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:23.84 time — just two seconds shy from beating her own school record set in February 2016.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Gallego Murcia claimed first-place with a 1:08.32 time, and Ristroph finished right behind her in second with a 1:08.57.
Ginger Bryant took fifth with a 1:09.00.

Samantha Gray continued an impressive season by taking yet another first-place finish — her third of the year. This one came in the one-meter dive where she scored a 228.98.
Sierra Thain came in fourth place with a dive score of 195.08.

The Trojans shined in the 200-yard individual medley by taking points for second, third and fourth place. Ristroph claimed the second-place spot with a 2:13.42 time. Van Huyssteen's 2:14.84 time came in third, and Bryant took fourth with a 2:15.30.

Bristow took second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a of 1:56.75. Van Huyssteen took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.59. Ruiz Astorga took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.07. Fryar (5:10.07) and Bristow (5:13.03) took second and third in the 500-yard freestyle.

Evansville Triple Dual
The Trojans excelled in the long-distance events again as
Claire Bristow took first-place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:43.61 time. Bristow then claimed a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle while
Tori Fryar took second with a 5:07.22 time.

Samantha Gray took second-place finishes in both the one-meter dive as well as the three-meter dive as she scored a 244.36 in the one-meter and a 237.35 in the three-meter.

Little Rock's best relay finish of the day came in the 400-yard freestyle where
Emma Doll, Imre Van Huyssteen,
Tori Fryar and
Laura Ruiz Astorga took second place with a 3:36.55 finish.
Charis Won,
Claire Bristow,
Ann Kharlamova and
Regan Lawrence finished fourth timing in at 3:44.39.

Ruiz Astorga took third in the 200-yard individual medley with a 2:12.65 time. Fryar took second in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:57.57. Van Huyssteen took third in the 100-yard freestyle with a 53.87. Gallego Murcia took second in the 200-yard breast stroke with a 2:27.82. The 400-medley relay team of Ruiz Astorga, Gallego Murcia, Finzen, and Van Huyssteen took third with a 4:00.35 time.

"This team works and supports each other as a family and last weekend was a test of coming together in tough times," said Burgess. "As we get closer to the Kansas Classic we are looking forward to seeing what a little rest and championship format will do."

The next challenge for the Trojans is on Nov. 17 as Little Rock will compete against top schools in the Kansas Classic and KU Diving Invitational
