LITTLE ROCK – Former Little Rock volleyball standout
Edina Selimovic has signed a professional contract to play for the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors in Manila, Philippines.
Â
Selimovic's new team is a member of the Premier Volleyball League and won back-to-back championships last year. Â
Â
"I'm really excited and thankful for this opportunity," Selimovic said. "I think this is a great start for me. Since I love to travel and love the sun, I think this is a great place for me. I'm also surrounded by so many nice and chill people. I'm already loving it and can't wait to play."
Â
Selimovic earned numerous awards as a Trojan including All-Sun Belt First Team honors during the 2014-16 seasons. She joined former Trojan greats Edina Begic and Tanja Radovic as the only Trojans in program history with three All-Sun Belt First Team honors. In 2015, Selimovic was named to the AVCA Southwest All-Region Team. Over the course of her three years in Little Rock, she earned Sun Belt Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors five times.
Â
Selimovic is one of two imports allowed on the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors' roster for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference season which begins on April 30.
