MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Little Rock soccer team was unable to generate any offense in a 3-0 loss at Memphis on Sunday night.
Â
Memphis (2-0) got on the board in the 38th minute when Jessica Lisi struck for her first goal of the year. With Little Rock (1-1) gaining possession in midfield, Lisi stole the ball away and sprinted toward the goal in the middle of a crowd. Still outside the penalty area, Lisi took a low shot that went just to the left of a diving Swanson for the 1-0 Tiger lead.
Â
The Tigers – who ended the 2016 season ranked 30th in the country – doubled their lead in the 73rd minute on a goal by Marie Levasseur and got a third goal in the 84th minute by Mikayla Morton.
Â
The Trojans' best chance to score came with time ticking down in the first half.
Fali Garuba had a look at goal, but Memphis keeper Shepard Ashworth parried Garuba's low shot away from danger.
Â
In the 85th minute, Bergrós Ásgeirsdóttir also found herself with a solid chance, receiving the ball in the penalty area thanks to a header pass by
Quin Wilkes, but Ashworth was again in the right spot to make a diving save.
Â
Little Rock returns to action on Friday for a game at Texas. The Trojans and Longhorns will kick off at 7 p.m. in a game that will be aired on the Longhorn Network.
