LITTLE ROCK - Â On an emotional day bidding farewell to a talented group of seniors, Little Rock swimming and diving posted numerous personal best times throughout the meet but fell short to SEC opponent Vanderbilt 91-150 in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Samantha Gray on her final dives in the Donaghey Aquatic Center posted personal-best scores in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. Though she was the only diver competing in today's competition, she began with a tremendous performance in the one-meter dive earning 285.29 score, just nine points short of the school record. She later than posted a score of 277.04 in the three-meter dive improving her personal best from a 274.20.
Personal-best times were made in the 50-yard freestyle by Tori Fryar and Claire Bristow, in the 50-yard breaststroke by Palmer Ristroph and Ginger Bryant, and in the 50-yard backstroke by Regan Lawrence. In the 50-yard freestyle, Charis Won broke her season-best time as Lawrence also set a season-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke.
For the first time at Donaghey, the 300-yard freestyle event was swam which meant a spot up for grabs in the record books and senior Fryar claimed the first-place finish with a time of 2:58.67 earning another spot in the books.
Little Rock's best relay finish came in the 100-yard freestyle relay as the team of Emma Doll, Imre Van Huyssteen, Regan Lawrence and Laura Ruiz Astorga took second-place with a time of 45.06.
Isabelle Finzen grabbed two second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.16 and in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:00.92.
Other second-place finishes came from Fryar in the 100-yard freestyle, from Ruiz Astorga in the 100-yard backstroke and from Bryant in the 100-yard breaststroke
Now that the regular season has come to a close, Little Rock has its eyes set on the Missouri Valley Conference Championship which will take place in Iowa City, Iowa on February 14-17.
