LITTLE ROCK- The Trojans fell to Evansville in their first meet in Missouri Valley Conference competition. The Purple Aces just edged out Little Rock 164-132 to pick up the victory on the road.
A trio of seniors delivered a solid performance in the first event at their final meet inside the Donaghey Aquatic Center.
Imre van Huyssteen,
Laura Ruiz Astorga,
Lindsey Butler and
Lea Zengerling posted a time of 3:58.68 for second place in the 400-yard medley relay.
Rachel Maradyn followed with another second place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 11:01.64.
The Trojans took nine points in the 200-yard freestyle when
Claire Bristow picked up a first-place finish with a time of 1:55.63. Ruiz Astorga gave Little Rock back-to-back race victories with her first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
Jessie Baldwin and
Mia Gibson also put in solid performances, finishing third and fourth respectively in the event.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, the Trojans make it three wins in a row when van Huyssteen and Ristroph finished first and second respectively with times of 1:07.66 and 1:07.77.
Sierra Thain continued her dominance on the diving board with her top score in the 1-meter dive. The sophomore tallied a score of 242.47 to earn nine points for her team.
The Trojans grabbed another win in the 100-yard freestyle when Butler clocked in at 53.77.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, van Huyssteen showed her dominance with a first-place finish and time of 2:26.24.
Bristow continued her excellent performance in the pool posting a top time of 5:11.03 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Little Rock picked up one final event victory in the 200-yard IM when Ruiz Astorga earned a time of 2:12.50.
The Trojans will take a three-week break from competition before they head to Lawrence, Kan. to compete in the Kansas Classic beginning on Nov. 16.
