Trojans Edged by Mean Green in First Home Meet

LITTLE ROCK- The Trojans were edged out by the Mean Green of North Texas on Saturday in their first meet inside the Donaghey Aquatic Center in 2018.
The Trojans tallied 560 points while North Texas finished with 611 points to come out with the win.

In the first event of the day, Little Rock posted a good performance in the 400-yard medley relay as Laura Ruiz Astorga, Palmer Ristroph, Carolyn Ann Godwin and Lindsey Butler posted a time of 3:59.55.

Claire Bristow impressed with a second-place performance in the 1000-yard freestyle clocking in a time of 10:50.93. Amanda Dwyer and Alexis McCauley finished with times of 11:25.29 and 13:14.69 for fourth and fifth respectively.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Lea Zengerling posted another solid second-place performance with a time of 1:56.76. Ann Khalarmova and Vasiliki Falania finished fourth and fifth in the event.

Ruiz Astorga had a very good showing in the 100-yard backstroke with her time of 59.39 which was good enough for second place.

In the one-meter dive, Sierra Thain tallied a score of 203.90 to come in fifth place. The three-meter event proved to be Thain's strength as she earned a second-place finish with a score of 222.00.

Butler looked very strong in the 100-yard freestyle, earning second place with a time of 53.36, missing out on the top spot by less than three-tenths of a second.

The 200-yard backstroke was tightly contested as Zengerling posted another second-place finish with a time of 2:08.60. Jessie Baldwin and Charis Won finished in fifth and sixth respectively.

Bristow had another second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:14.61.

In the 100-yard fly, Zengerling earned yet another second-place finish as the German came in with a time of 59.88.

The Trojans were just narrowly edged out in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the final event of the day. Butler, Zengerling, Bristow and Ruiz Astorga clocked in at 1:39.45, just behind the Mean Green.

The Trojans will return to Donaghey Aquatic Center on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. for the Little Rock Invitational.
