Little Rock Takes Conference Opener

TROY, Ala. - Little Rock baseball wins their conference opener 3-1 against the Trojans of Troy on Friday night at Riddle-Pace Field. Little Rock gets to double digit wins on the season going 10-8 and 1-0 in conference. Troy slides to 12-6 on the year while being 0-1 in conference play.
 
Chase Coker had a hot hitting night going 2-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run in the third inning — his first of the year.
 
Troy Alexander did it again for Little Rock knocking in two runs in the sixth to gain the back the lead that eventually became the game winning runs. Alexander ended the day going 1-for-3 at the plate and upped his RBI season total to 26.
 
Starter Chandler Fidel got his second win on the year after pitching deep into the game for Little Rock letting up only one run in the seven innings he threw. He ended with eight strikeouts and three walks while only giving up five hits.
 
He handed the ball off to the bullpen leader Justin Garcia who got his third save of the year and was able to strike out four more in the two innings he pitched. His impressive strikeout total increased to 39 on the year in the 20.1 innings he has pitched.
 
Little Rock looks to claim the series in game two tomorrow with the Trojan ace, Cole Townsend, scheduled to throw with first pitch at 3 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field in Troy, Alabama.
