Trojans Cap Off Unbeaten Weekend with Win Over ULM

LITTLE ROCK- Arola Aparicio Gili knocked home the game-winning goal Sunday afternoon in the Trojans' 1-0 defeat of ULM to cap off an unbeaten weekend in conference play.

"We played very well in the first half," said Head Coach Mark Foster. "Second half we look fatigued from the weekend, but we worked hard and grinded it out. It was tough being on the road for two games but we're very pleased to come out of it with four points."

The winning moment came in the 37th minute when Little Rock manage to win a corner kick. Fanney Einarsdotir whipped in a dangerous cross into the box and Peyton Laughley was on the end of it as she headed the ball down for Aparicio Gili who tucked it home for her third goal of the season. The goal would give the Trojans a 1-0 lead and some breathing room for the remainder of the game.

Little Rock was in control for majority of the match as they recorded 19 shots compared to the Warhawks' eight. Sairra Tucker created havoc on the offensive end, firing six shots. Jaclyn Purvine also made an impact from her wide position as she tallied three shots with two on target.

Liesa Seifert and Samantha Rolka played all 90 minutes as the center back pairing were strong in the defense all day to help preserve the clean sheet. Sara Johannsdottir made four saves between the posts to record her sixth shutout of the season. She has made a lasting impact in her first season wearing the maroon and silver.

The Trojans will return to the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex next Sunday, Oct. 7 for a matchup with the reigning Sun Belt champions South Alabama.
