CARBONDALE, Ill.- The Little Rock swimming and diving team fell to Southern Illinois 174.5-122.5 despite some strong performances from the Trojan upperclassmen.
Little Rock would record an array of first-place finishes on the day as
Claire Bristow would get things started with the top time in the 1000-yard freestyle clocking in at 10:43.17.
Lily Kerr would take third in the event with a time of 11:02.51.
Lea Zengerling continued her impressive freshman campaign with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.
Ann Kharlamova finished third in the event as she would touch the wall with a time of 2:00.18.
In the 50-yard freestyle, the Trojans would grab the two top spots as
Lindsey Butler won the event posting a time of 25.05 and
Regan Lawrence finished right behind her at 25.56.
Butler was not done, however, as she placed first in the 100-yard freestyle as well with a time of 54.33.
Laura Ruiz Astora showed some senior leadership by grabbing an important nine points for her team with her first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. Bristow would then continue her impressive day in the pool with yet another top finish in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:12.40.
To cap off the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of
Imre van Huyssteen, Lawrence, Bristow and Ruiz Astora took home a first-place finish with a time of 3:36.38.
The Trojans will get back on the road and back in the pool next Saturday at 11 a.m. when they travel to Arkadelphia to take on Ouachita Baptist for some more dual-meet competition.
