LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With a strong defensive performance, a potent serving game and a balanced attack, Little Rock upended Appalachian State, 3-1, Saturday night at the Jack Stephens Center.
The Trojans (3-15, 1-5 Sun Belt), while claiming their first Sun Belt Conference win of the season, knocked Appalachian State (9-10, 5-1) from the ranks of the unbeatens in league play. Set scores were 25-21, 25-9, 22-25 and 25-23.

In all, Little Rock had four players with double-digit digs and the team recorded more digs (78) and blocks (7) in Saturday's match than they have in any other Sun Belt match to date. The nine service aces by the Maroon and Silver marked the most in a match this season.
Alyssa Nayar recorded her second career double-double with 17 assists and a season-high 20 digs while
Diana Giordani registered 21 digs and
Laura Jansen had a career-high 17 digs.
Carol Barbosa led the offensive with 12 kills while four other players had five or more kills.

- Little Rock registered just one more dig and one more ace than Appalachian State in the match while committing an equal number of service errors. However, App State committed more attack errors (27 to 21).
- Little Rock hit an impressive .344 in the opening set to Appalachian State's .132.
- Janae Thurston and Carol Barbosa each posted five kills in the first set.
- Appalachian State dominated the second set with a 25-9 win but Little Rock out-blocked the Mountaineers in the frame, 2-0.
- Despite being out-hit in the third set (.140 to .104), Little Rock claimed the 25-22 win behind four service aces in the set.
