Trojans to Host 'Swim Pink' Little Rock Invitational

LITTLE ROCK - The Trojan swimming and diving team is set for its first home meet of the season this Saturday, a 10:00 a.m. invitational with the theme 'Swim Pink.' Little Rock will be raffling off a pink cap and other swim gear while heat sheets will be available for $1.00 each. All proceeds will go toward the Susan G. Komen foundation in alignment with breast cancer awareness month.

"Being an all female program and with the rising statistics of women diagnosed with breast cancer we are looking to bring awareness and a little fundraising to help fight the cause," said head coach Amy Burgess. "Many of our Trojan Family have family members or someone close to them that have been affected by breast cancer and we hope to do our part this weekend and rock some pink swimsuits in honor of them."

Several men's and women's team will be welcomed to the Donaghey Aquatic Center for the invitational, including Oklahoma Baptist, Henderson State, University of the Ozarks, & Williams Baptist. Last year, Oklahoma Baptist took home the title on both sides of the roster, while Little Rock placed third by just two points behind Henderson State.

After being on the road for its two other dual meets, the first against North Texas and the latest versus Arkansas, the Trojans are finally ready to compete at home this weekend. This marks the first of four meets in Little Rock this season, with the second coming up the following weekend.

"Being home is always exciting, and being the first home meet of the season takes it up another notch," added Burgess. "Our goal with every meet this season is to do something better than we did the meet before. We saw great improvement from our first two meets and are looking to continue the trend this weekend. Welcoming some returning teams, the team is ready to defend their home turf in front of the home crowd."
