LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock swimming and diving team is set to hold its second home meet in as many weeks this Saturday at 11:00 a.m., as the Trojans will host a dual with Incarnate Word in attendance. Joining them will be the Ouachita Baptist men's team to compete against the Cardinals' men.
"We are excited to welcome Incarnate Word back to Little Rock," said head coach Amy Burgess. "Coming off a great start at home last weekend we are looking forward to continuing our momentum Saturday."
The last time the Trojans faced Incarnate Word, a DI university based in San Antonio, Texas, was in 2017 when the Cardinals won the women's team title at the Little Rock Invitational. The Trojans have never gone head-to-head with Incarnate Word in a dual meet until this weekend.
Little Rock will have to be on its A-game Saturday as the visiting women's team features a plethora of strong athletes. Incarnate Word has the depth to throw down multiple competitive performances, and several races may come down to the details for the Trojans. While there are several faces that have proven themselves as leaders for Little Rock in certain events, those that may be second or third to those leaders will be the swimmers and divers that will need to step up.
As it were, multiple Trojans proved themselves last Saturday en route to a team victory at the Little Rock Invitational, recording new season best scores and times, so the team will look to bring the same fire in their races and dives this upcoming weekend.
"This time of the year can be challenging with training and school picking up intensity, but we are continuing to see the team step up day in and out," added Burgess. "This weekend brings us back to head-to-head competition and will be an exciting meet to watch."
