LITTLE ROCK – Freshman Asmalia Redzuan has been chosen as the Missouri Valley Conference's Swimmer of the Week after her multiple strong performances during last weekend's home dual against Incarnate Word. This marks the team's first Swimmer of the Week honor since 2016, and Redzuan is also the fourth freshman in program history to earn the recognition.
Redzuan posted two personal best times in her individual events, the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Her time of 1:56.59 in the 200 free was nearly a second faster than her previous best and ranks her 15th in the MVC. Redzuan additionally competed in the 100 fly for the first time this past weekend, stopping the clock at 57.65 to earn the 11th spot in the MVC in that event.
The freshman was also a key part to both Little Rock A relays. She anchored both the 400 medley and the 400 freestyle, recording the fastest 100 free leg in the entire pool during the medley relay, a 53.86. She also was the only Trojan under the 54-second mark in the free relay, splitting a 53.45.
The Little Rock swimming and diving team travels to Evansville, Indiana this Saturday, Nov. 2 for their first conference showdown of the year in a tri-meet between hosts Evansville and fellow guests Indiana State. The tri-meet swimming events will begin at 1:00 p.m., while diving will start earlier at 9:30.
