LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock head men's basketball coach
Darrell Walker today announced two more additions to the Trojans' 2019 squad.
Alsean Evans and
Marko Lukic will join the team this summer as Little Rock gears up for the 2019-20 season.
"We wanted to get bigger on the perimeter, and we'll accomplish that with the additions of Alsean and Marko," Walker said. "I thought at times we were too small last year, and that has been a priority of ours throughout the recruiting process. I'm excited to get them here with the rest of our guys in June and get to work."
Evans comes to Little Rock from Polk State College in Winter Haven, Florida, where he was a first team All-Suncoast Conference selection after averaging 16.9 points per game and helping the Eagles advance to the SunCoast tournament championship game. A 6-6, 190 pound guard from Lakeland, Florida, Evans was among the national leaders in assists at McKeel Academy. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Little Rock.
"Alsean is a multi-skilled player who can put the ball on the floor and is a shooter," Walker said. "He can facilitate and handle the ball. He is very athletic and gives us a big wing and should provide an immediate spark."
Lukic is a freshman will venture to Little Rock from Serbia where he averaged 20.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the U20 Barsy Atyrau in Kazakhstan, leading the league in scoring last season. The 6-6, 200 pound guard also was the league's leading scorer as a member of the NBBL's U19 Crailsheim Merlins in Germany in 2017-18, averaging 23.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
"Marko is another tall player that can shoot the ball, which will give us a much better advantage on the perimeter," Walker said. "He has great ball handling skills and is a very smart player, so I'm excited to see how he can help change the style of play of this team."
The two additions add to Walker's 2019 recruiting class, which began during the early signing period with the additions of Admir Besovic, Ruot Monyyong and Jovan Stulic. All five signees add to Walker's vision of adding height and playmakers on the court for the Trojans, complementing the core of returning players.
Coach Walker's second season in Little Rock will begin in early November with the full schedules being announced in the coming weeks. Season ticket renewals for the 2019-20 season are now being accepted by calling the Trojan ticket office at (501) 565-8257.
