LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock swimming and diving team is set to celebrate Senior Day this Saturday, Feb. 1 in its last home action of the season. The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m., while the tri-meet will start at 11:00.
The Trojans will honor six senior swimmers that each have been instrumental for the program both in and out of the pool all four years: Jessie Baldwin, KateLin Carsrud, Amanda Dreyer, Rachel Maradyn, Alexis McCauley, and Charis Won.
"This Senior Class will be missed in a big way!" said head coach Amy Burgess. "They have left their mark in our program and helped strengthen our culture in a way that will continue for years. Watching these young ladies grow and develop over the last four years is why we do what we do. Every one of them has a tremendous future ahead and I am so honored to have had them in this program and be a part of their journey."
The senior class along with the rest of the team will welcome Vanderbilt and Ouachita Baptist to the Donaghey Aquatic Center for its final tri-meet and last chance to race before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, which begins Feb. 19 and goes through the 22nd. The championship meet will take place in Columbia, Missouri.
"We always look forward to hosting Vanderbilt and Ouachita Baptist," commented Burgess. "It's a great way to wrap up our regular season and do any last minute fine tuning before we begin to bring it down for the MVC Championship."
The lineup will be a unique one, featuring unofficial collegiate events such as the 300 free, 50s of all strokes, the 100 IM, and a 100 free relay. The usual events include the 200 medley relay and 100s of each stroke. There will be no diving at the meet.
"With a different sprint event line up, it helps match how we have transitioned our training leading up to championship season, and we are anxious to see what this team can do against some SEC competition," added Burgess. "The Senior Meet always brings some fun surprises and we are looking forward to honoring them with good racing."Â
