Trojans Set for Little Rock Open at War Memorial Park Saturday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – War Memorial Park is the stage Saturday as Little Rock Cross Country will host the Little Rock Open with a field of 10 teams, including a few Sun Belt programs facing the Trojans on their home turf.

Participating Teams

Little Rock, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri State (women only), ULM, Delta State (women only), Philander-Smith, Jacksonville (Texas) College, UA Fort Smith

Three Things to Know
  1. The Hills are Alive
Or, at least, they are about to be alive. Come Saturday morning the hilly terrain at War Memorial Park in Little Rock will be the site of the annual Little Rock Open. The far-from-flat course provides one of the hilliest terrains any of the teams registered will compete at this year, including the Sun Belt Conference Championships later this month in Mobile, Alabama.
  2. Sun Belt Showdown
Saturday's race will be (another) chance for the Trojans to see how they measure up to Sun Belt competition prior to the league's championship meet on Oct. 31. In Little Rock's last meet, the Trojans showed the have crept up on the Texas schools in the league, providing a scary proposition for the Halloween title race.
  3. Last Chance to Prep
For the Trojans and other Sun Belt competitors, Saturday's races will be the final chance to prepare for the league championships in a competition setting. That makes the Little Rock Open a critical final preparation for runners to gear up for the league's championship race.
