Little Rock Heads to 2020 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An unusual fall leads to a usual conclusion Saturday as Little Rock heads to Mobile, Alabama for the 2020 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships.
 
The women's 5K championship race beings at 10 a.m. while the men's 8K race starts at 11 a.m.. Both races will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The league championship races are a culmination of the unique 2020 season in the Sun Belt and across the region.

Little Rock, Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State (women only), Georgia Southern (women only), Louisiana, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, ULM and UT Arlington.
 
Three Things to Know

1. Youthful Leadership
   In all three regular season meets this year, Little Rock has been led by a pair of freshmen – Spencer Cardinal on the men's side and Mia Patria on the women's side. While all three regular season meets have had some Sun Belt competition, now the two rookies will test their talents against the entire league field.
2. Championship Experience
   They may be young, but a pair of Trojan men's runners enter this week's action already with championship cross country experience. Both Spencer Cardinal and Aaron Soltmann bring big time experience from last year when they both competed at the 2019 Nike National Cross Country Meet.
3. Who Will Be Number Six?
   Little Rock has had five runners claim a Sun Belt Cross Country Individual title in its program history with the latest being Noora Wallenius in 2015. Will a Trojan add to that list on Saturday and, if so, which one? Other past winners include Latasha Richard (2016), Brent Corbitt (2002), Leah Thorvilson (2002) and Whitney Kerth (2006).
