Bianchi Stays Perfect in PAC-12, Trojans Drop Dual 38-10

STANFORD, Calif. – The Little Rock wrestling team began the first of their last two duals this evening at #21 Stanford, dropping the match 38-10. Junior standout Paul Bianchi collected dual win number six of the season, staying perfect in PAC-12 competition with one more to go.

"Tonight was another opportunity and we've got to stop acting like two different teams," said head coach Neil Erisman. "We show fight against top teams in the nation one day but not as much the next. We have to figure out how to be consistent and once we do that we're going to have great success across the board."

Bianchi started the night for the Trojans at 133 pounds after Jayden Carson won his match by forfeit, receiving six team points.

The junior earned the first takedown, grappling yet staying ahead in the first period before truly getting into the groove. Bianchi tallied eight takedowns throughout the bout and two escapes, showcasing his control on top. Dual win number six, an 18-8 major decision, was also Bianchi's sixth major of the year.

Conner Ward's match was close at 141, with the redshirt freshman digging deep after his opponent's four-point near fall in the second period to earn two takedowns and come within three, but with the point for riding time, he couldn't complete a comeback. The bout ended at an 11-7 decision.

At 149 pounds, Tyler Brennan was able to slow down his competitor throughout his match – despite only escaping once to get on the board, he only allowed an 8-1 decision.

While Tommy Lisher and Will Edgar only gave up major decisions, each only a point away from decisions, a similar back half story favored conference foe Stanford, which tallied 18 team points in the final three matches.

Little Rock has a quick turnaround before its final dual of the season, traveling north from Stanford up to Oregon State for a Saturday showdown. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m. CT. and will be streamed live.
