LITTLE ROCK – Head coach
Darrell Walker has announced a hometown addition to the Trojan roster as Little Rock native
CJ White has joined the program. White, who spent two seasons at SMU, will sit out the 2020-21 season due to NCAA transfer rules, and will have two seasons of eligibility with the Trojans.
"I'm very excited to be able to add CJ to our roster," said Walker. "CJ is a very solid, very athletic player who can shoot the ball and is a quality defender. He comes from a storied local program at Parkview and brings some Division I experience from his time at SMU. He will be a great asset to our team and I'm excited to add more depth to our program."
White comes to Little Rock after spending two seasons at SMU, playing in 53 games for the Mustangs over that span. White averaged 13.9 minutes per game, scoring 2.7 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting .353 from the floor, .337 from three point range and .655 from the free throw line.
The 6-5 guard scored in double figures five times during his time at SMU, including a career-best 15 points against both Northwestern State and Tulane as a sophomore. During his two seasons with the Mustangs, White was part of a SMU team that won a combined 34 games, including 15 American Athletic Conference victories.
Playing his high school ball at storied Parkview High School under head coach Al Flanigan, White was named the State Tournament MVP and First Team All-State honors as the Patriots claimed the 2018 5A state championship. During his senior season, White averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 40 percent from beyond the three-point arc. White was also a key player on the 2016-17 Parkview team, which was the Arkansas 5A state-runner up.
White has already joined the program, taking part in summer workouts with the Trojans. A handful of Trojans are in Little Rock and working out as the team continues to inch closer to the 2020-21 season, looking to defend its Sun Belt Conference regular season title.
