MOBILE, Ala. – A 1-under 71 in the opening round of the season for
Malena Austerslaatt highlighted Little Rock's first day of competition since March at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Alabama.

Austerslaatt's 71 was comprised of 15 pars, two birdies and just one bogey as she opened the round with eight-straight pars before a birdie on the par-four ninth. Five more pars led into her lone bogey of the day on 15, which was quickly equalized with a birdie on 16 with two more pars to end her round.
It was the fourth par-or-better round of Austerslaatt's career as she is tied for fourth among the individual field, four shots off the pace. It paced Little Rock to an opening round 23-over 311, sitting seventh overall.
Kellie Gachaga and
Sydney Scraba each posted a 7-over 79 on the day as the duo is tied for 33rd overall.
Tilde Bocker added a 10-over 82 with
Viktoria Krnacova posting a 12-over 84 in her first collegiate round.
Little Rock enters Sunday's second round five shots back of sixth-place Lamar (18-over 306) and is nine strokes back of Arkansas State (14-over 302) in fifth. Western Kentucky (2-under 286) holds the team lead, four shots better than second-place South Alabama (2-over 290) and six strokes better than third-place ULM (4-over 292).
