Trojans Stumble in 3-0 Setback at Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. – Little Rock stumbled on a Thursday night in south Louisiana, falling 3-0 to Louisiana at the Ragin' Cajun Soccer Complex. Little Rock falls to 6-6-3 on the season and 2-3-2 in Sun Belt play, extending its winless streak to three games.

"I thought we came out flat tonight, and never really kicked into gear and got any attacking rhythm going," said head coach Mark Foster. "The few chances we had, we weren't able to connect, and I felt we needed a goal to change the momentum of the game. The positive is that if we're going to have a flat game, I'm glad it came now and not two weeks from now. We'll learn from it and get ready for Sunday."

Louisiana got on the board in the 21st minute off a header in the box, putting the Trojans in an early 1-0 hole. Little Rock had a pair of opportunities late in the half to get the equalizer as Bergros Asgeirsdottir's shot was saved and Abril Lucio's was just off target, giving Louisiana the 1-0 halftime lead.

The Trojans came out aggressive early in the second half, getting a pair of scoring chances behind shots from both Julia Edholm and Jana Heinen. But similar to Sunday's match, Louisiana was able to find the back of the net twice in a five-minute span in the second half, both of which came from Tatum Beck, putting the game away with the 3-0 lead.

Louisiana held a 15-11 edge in shots, putting 10 shots on goal compared to just three for Little Rock. Edholm led the way with four shots on the night, followed by three from Heinen and one each from four other players, including the shot on goal by Asgeirsdottir. Freshman Paige Henry registered seven saves on the night.

Little Rock now returns to Coleman for the final time this season, getting ready to take on Georgia State in a key Sun Belt showdown Sunday. Opening draw against the Panthers is set for 12 p.m.
