LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock swimming and diving team will be on the road for the first time on Friday, but they won't be too far from home. The Trojans will make the journey over to Ouachita Baptist for a tri-meet between the Tigers and fellow visiting team Incarnate Word. The action kicks off at 5:00 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity to get a feel for an away meet, without being too far away," said head coach
Amy Burgess. "Incarnate Word is a strong mid-major Division I program, and Ouachita has seen some great growth the last couple of years, so we are looking forward to seeing how everyone steps up and races. It should be an exciting meet with lots of opportunities to score points and really get into racing and fine tuning all the details."
The Trojans have raced Ouachita Baptist every year since 2014, holding a win streak since then. Meanwhile, Little Rock has met with Incarnate Word just once before, at home in 2019, where the Cardinals bested the Trojans in a tight but tough competition. In addition, graduate transfer
Lauren Gray, a strong addition to the sprint squad and overall leadership for the Trojan roster, will be racing against former UIW teammates for the first time.
Little Rock is just coming off of
back-to-back tri-meets last weekend against Air Force and Tulane, and will be challenged both mentally and physically with a quick turnaround between competitions.
