Ruot Monyyong Earns Third Team All-Conference Honors

Senior ranks among the top-20 nationally in five different categories

NEW ORLEANS – Little Rock senior Ruot Monyyong has been named a third team All-Sun Belt Conference selection for the 2020-21 season, announced today by the league office. The voting for the all-conference team was done by the league's 12 head coaches.

It marks the second All-Conference honor of Monyyong's career, earning first team honors in 2019-20 after guiding the Trojans to the regular season league title. It is another conference accolade in a long list for Monyyong, which includes Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Preseason Player of the Year.

Monyyong's third team selection came despite the Nashville native posting some of the top numbers both among the conference and nationally. He closed the 2020-21 season tied for first among all Sun Belt players with 15 double-doubles, tied for second nationally. Monyyong averaged a double-double in conference play, averaging 12.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game and 11.9 points and 10.9 rebounds overall.

Monyyong finished the season ranked second in the league in rebounds per game (11.0) and defensive rebounds per game (7.6), third in blocks per game (1.6), fourth in field goal percentage (56.9%) and fifth in offensive rebounds (3.4). He was the only active Sun Belt player to surpass the impressive milestone of 600 points (680), 500 rebounds (587) and 100 blocks (102) and is the Trojans' all-time leader with 31 career double-doubles, ranking 15th among active Division I players.

On a national scene, Monyyong made his mark as well, closing out the regular season ranked among the nation's top-20 in five statistical categories. The senior forward sits second in the nation in double-doubles (15), third in total rebounds (285), ninth in rebounds per game (11.0), 14th in defensive rebounds per game (7.6) and 18th in offensive rebounds (3.4).

For his career, Monyyong has etched his name throughout the Trojan record books, leaving Little Rock among the top-10 in seven different statistical categories as well. One of the Trojans' all-time rebounding leaders, he ranks third all-time in program history in career rebounding average (10.3 rpg), career defensive rebounds (432) as well as career blocks (102) and career blocks per game (1.8). His 587 blocks is 10th all-time while his 10.9 rebounds per game in 2020-21 is also 10th in program history.

Monyyong closes out his Little Rock career with 43 double figure games and 35 games of 10-or-more rebounds, starting all 56 games he played in for the Trojans over the last two seasons while shooting 57.0% from the field, the third-best in program history.
