LITTLE ROCK – It was another impressive performance in the classroom for Little Rock student-athletes over the last four months, finishing the spring 2021 term with a department GPA of 3.17. It extends the Trojans impressive streak of semesters above a 3.00 to 18-straight as the department boasts an overall GPA of 3.31.
An impressive 70.97% of Little Rock's 248 student-athletes finished the spring 2021 semester with a 3.00 GPA or higher with 54 achieving a perfect 4.00 GPA. Additionally, 10 of Little Rock's 15 programs finished with a team GPA of 3.00 this past spring, six of which were during the heart of their competition seasons.
Once again, women's golf led the charge with a combined team GPA of 3.88 as all six golfers finished with a GPA of 3.25 or higher and four with a perfect 4.00.
They were followed by volleyball's 3.77 team GPA as all 16 players on the roster finished with a 3.00 or higher and eight notched a perfect 4.00 during the spring.
Men's golf concluded an impressive spring with a 3.52 team GPA coming on the heels of qualifying for the program's first-ever NCAA Championship. Eight of the nine golfers posted a 3.00 GPA (88.9%) with four notching a 4.00.
Soccer checked in at fourth with a team GPA of 3.48, highlighted by 21 of the 25 student-athletes registering a 3.00 or higher GPA (84.0%) and 10 perfect 4.00 performances, tied for the most in the department. That was followed closely behind by swimming and diving seeing 28 of 34 student-athletes posting a 3.00 GPA (82.4%) and 10 with a 4.00, helping lead to a 3.43 team GPA.
Baseball finished the spring competition semester with a 3.21 team GPA as 72.2% of its student-athletes closed out the semester with a 3.00 or higher GPA. Women's track and field/cross country also had a strong showing in its competition season, posting a 3.05 team GPA with 71.8% of student-athletes above the 3.00 threshold with 10 sporting a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Men's basketball just missed joining the 3.00 GPA club, finishing with a 2.94 with a pair of 4.00 student-athletes. Wrestling, women's basketball and men's track and field/cross country combined to see 37 student-athletes finish with above a 3.00 and six end the academic year with a 4.00.
