BEAUMONT, Texas – Little Rock hit an impressive .291 as a team, tied a season-high six service aces and controlled play from start to finish in a straight-set win over Northwestern State in the opening match of the Lamar Invitational in Beaumont Friday morning.

The .291 hitting percentage is the second-highest on the season for Little Rock (47 kills and just 15 errors on 110 attempts).

Set scores were 25-22, 25-11 and 25-18 as Little Rock (4-3) was led by
Laura Jansen and
Alyssa Nayar, both of whom registered double-doubles.

But it was the effective hitting by
Nedima Kamberovic and
Nicole Medlin that stymied Northwestern State (2-7). Kamberovic (.429) and Medlin (.438) provided a seemingly unstoppable attack as the duo combined for 15 kills and only one error. Kamberovic put down a season-high nine kills.

Laura Jansen (13 kills, 12 digs) posted her 18
th career double-double and a pair of aces while Nayar (34 assists, 10 digs) tied a career-high three service aces in the match. Seven of Jansen's 13 kills came in the opening set
