Three Things to Know
- This is Just the Start
Little Rock heads to Monroe for the season-opening meet this weekend and the Trojans are ready to get back into the groove. Little Rock had its best finish in several years at last season's Sun Belt Championship meet and is looking to build upon that momentum as the 2021 season gets underway.
- Defying Expectations
Little Rock's goal this season is to defy expectations. The Trojan men (6th) and women (8th) were picked to finish where they finished last year. But Little Rock won't be satisfied with maintaining the status quo and is focused on defying the expectations set forth in the preseason coaches' poll.
- New Faces are Familiar Faces
Look at the Little Rock coaching staff and the new faces you see are actually quite familiar. New distance coach Dustin Mettler ran on the 2010 Trojan men's team that won the Sun Belt Cross Country Championship and has returned to his alma mater to coach. Meanwhile Kimberley Boni, whose career has been cut short due to injury, will be serving as a student assistant coach this year.
