Double-Doubles by Both Jansens Not Enough to Complete Little Rock Comeback

Trojans Drop Five-Set Heartbreaker Thursday Night

CONWAY, Ark. – Laura Jansen recorded a career-high 31 kills – the most of any Sun Belt player so far this season – and both she and Laure Jansen posted double-double performances but the duo could not complete a come-from-behind rally in a 3-2 loss at Central Arkansas Thursday evening.

Little Rock (3-1) dropped its first match of the year after dropping the first two sets then staging a dramatic comeback attempt to force a pivotal fifth set. But UCA (1-0) squeaked by in a 25-17, 25-14, 25-27, 17-25, 16-14 thriller.

The Trojans were staring at a straight set sweep, trailing 16-11 in the third set, before rallying back for a 27-25 set win to extend the match. Laura Jansen recorded five kills over the last nine points in the set to will Little Rock to the set victory. She finished the match with 31 kills – the second-most by any player in the country this year – and 11 digs. Her 31 kills also ties for the 10th-most in school history.

Laure Jansen recorded 13 kills and 15 digs while Alyssa Nayar dished out 56 assists, one shy of matching her career-high.

Central Arkansas was led by Alexis Stumbough's 17 kills.

Little Rock looks to rebound against an undefeated Memphis (3-0) squad Friday at 4 p.m. in the second day of the Central Arkansas Invitational.
