NEW ORLEANS – Little Rock sophomore
Spencer Cardinal was named the Sun Belt Men's Runner of the Week Wednesday after running the third-fastest time in history over the weekend.
Â
The Trojans' Cardinal ran the third-fastest 8K time in program history last Saturday, posting a mark of 24:21.2 at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas. Cardinal's time, a personal-best by more than 90 seconds, came as he led the Trojans for the second consecutive meet. Cardinal finished 14th overall at the meet as he ran the fastest time by any Sun Belt athlete last week.
Â
This marks the first career honor for Cardinal and the first Runner of the Week honor this season for Little Rock.
Â
The Trojans return home on Oct. 16 to host the Little Rock Open at War Memorial Park.
