Three Things to Know
- A First For All
Saturday's championship race won't just be a first for Little Rock as they compete in the OVC meet, it will be a first for every female runner competing. The 2022 OVC Women's Cross Country Championship will mark the first time the women will run a 6K race. The move to a longer race (previously it was a 5K race) was made to align the conference championship meet with the same distance as the NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships.
- First and 15
The Trojans felt they ran decent times in Fayetteville at the dry and dusty Chile Pepper Invitational but little did they know how well they ran. When the results came in, the Little Rock women's performances marked the first time since 2007 that the Trojans had four women run sub-19-minute times at the Chile Pepper Invite. Credit Matilda Horton (17:50.4), Kyla Lochtefeld (18:28.7), Ariana Garcia (18:47.6) and Brooke Walker (18:59.5) for making moves on the course.
- Women Rank 15th in Region
Little Rock's Women enter this week's action ranked 15th in the South Central Region. The Trojans were last listed in the regional rankings in the first week of the 2021 season as the Trojans were also rated 15th. Little Rock is the ONLY OVC women's team ranked in the regional rankings.
