Little Rock Closes 2022 Season Falling 3-1 in Nashville

Daedrianna Cail leads the Trojans with 13 kills and a .346 hitting percentage

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Little Rock closed out its 2022 season with a 3-1 loss to Tennessee State at Kean Hall Gynasium Saturday afternoon. The Trojans close the year at 7-25 overall and 4-15 in their inaugural season in the Ohio Valley Conference.
 
The Trojans hit just .096 for the match, compared to .172 for the Tigers, led by Daedrianna Cail's 13 kills and .346 attack percentage. She was one of three Trojans to notch double digit kill totals, followed by 11 for Jeila Fullerton and 10 for Laure Jansen. The duo each registered a double-double with Jansen adding 17 digs with 12 for Fullerton.
 
Little Rock tallied eight team blocks on the afternoon, led by five assisted for Zanobia Willis and three for Cail, with Gabrielle Spankus dishing out 30 assists in the Music City.
 
The Trojans battled the Tigers to extra points in set one, rallying back from four-point deficit at 19-15 to serve for set point at both 24-23 and 25-24. But Tennessee State rattled off the final three points of the set to steal the opener 27-25.
 
Little Rock rallied once again in set two, coming back from a 17-12 deficit to tie the set at 19-19, before finding itself down 23-21. The Trojans fought off a set point for Tennessee State at 24-23 to force extra points, scoring four of the last five with a block from Fullerton and Cail sealing the second set at 27-25 for Little Rock.
 
But the Trojans struggled to find its rythym after the intermission as Tennessee State took control in sets three and four, handing Little Rock a 25-13 and 25-18 defeat to close out the 2022 season.
