BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock redshirt freshman
Ethan Speaker has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Freshman of the Week after his performance at San Francisco last week.
Speaker set new career-highs, scoring 13 points and grabbing six rebounds against the Dons while shooting 5-of-8 from the floor and going a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Speaker was second on the team in both categories at San Francisco, notching his third double-digit performance of the year.
Through his first six games in a Little Rock uniform, the Boulder City, Nevada native is averaging 7.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 62.1% from the floor. Speaker is averaging 15.5 minutes off the bench for the Trojans, playing a career-high 26 minutes at San Francisco Wednesday.
Speaker becomes the third Trojan to earn OVC weekly honors this season, joining
Myron Gardner (Player of the Week) and
Chris Walker (Freshman of the Week), who picked up their honors on November 21. He shares the weekly accolade with Eastern Illinois' Kyle Thomas who averaged 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 69.2% from the floor in a pair of games.
Speaker and the rest of the Trojans conclude a grueling road swing tomorrow night in Memphis, concluding a stretch which saw Little Rock play six of seven on the road in five different states and traveling over 7,000 miles. Opening tip against the Tigers will be at 7 p.m. at the FedEx Forum and will stream live on ESPN+.
