Former Trojan Rayjon Tucker Selected To USA Men's World Cup Qualifying Team

Tucker currently competes for the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League

LITTLE ROCK - Former Trojan standout Rayjon Tucker has been named one of 12 players selected to the 2022 USA Men's World Cup Qualifying Team, announced by USA Basketball.

Tucker was a second team All-Sun Belt and NABC All-District selection for Little Rock in 2018-19, starting all 30 games he played in for the Trojans and ending the season ranking fourth in the Sun Belt Conference at 20.3 points per game. Tucker scored 610 points on the year, becoming the fifth player in program history to reach the 600 point mark and ranking fourth in program history in points per game for an entire season.

Tucker finished in double figures in 29 of his 30 games on the year, eclipsing the 20-point plateau 15 times. He finished the year shooting 49.1% from the floor, ranking fifth in the Sun Belt, and was 10th in the Sun Belt in rebounding (6.7 rpg), eighth in free throw percentage (77.7%), sixth in three-point field goals made (2.4) and third in defensive rebounds (6.0). Tucker's 41.1% from three point range is also tied for the highest career average in program history.

Since leaving Little Rock, Tucker has suited up for the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets of the NBA, and is currently a member of the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League. In 14 games with the Herd this season, Tucker is averaging 19.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, shooting 54.8% from the floor with five double-doubles on the year.

Tucker is joined on the team by Jordan Bell, Tarik Black, Brian Bowen II, Langston Galloway, Jared Harper, Joe Johnson, Juwan Morgan, Matt Ryan, David Stockton, Paul Watson, and Justin Wright-Foreman. Former NBA head coach Jim Boylen will serve as head coach of the USA Basketball Men's World Cup Qualifying Team. 

The USA squad will open training camp Feb. 18 in Washington, D.C., and will participate in the second competition window of 2021-23 FIBA World Cup Qualifying games that will see the U.S. face Puerto Rico (1-1) on Feb. 24 and Mexico (2-0) on Feb. 27. Both games will be played at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
