LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Trojans student-athletes gained valuable life skills knowledge last week after a presentation from Eric Smith, a financial literacy coach.
Â
Last Tuesday over 170 student-athletes gathered as part of Little Rock's Life Skills program to learn how to budget, save money, build credit, invest properly and effectively, evaluate job offers, determine differences in cost of living and what apps can help save money and monitor their financial situation.
Â
Eric Smith, who spent nearly 30 years as a successful lender and banking executive, gave the presentation. He is the founder of The EKS Group, LLC and was the first-ever financial literacy speaker to the included on the NCAA's Speaker Registry. Smith has shared his financial education programs to tens of thousands of collegiate student athletes all across the country. He has also presented at many NFL rookie camps including the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers as well as to several NBA G-League teams.
Â
This particular life skills event was made possible through the NCAA's AASP grant that the association awarded to Little Rock last summer.
