Little Rock Unveils 2022-23 Non-Conference Schedule

Trojans will face three NCAA tournament teams with four home games at the Jack Stephens Center

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock head basketball coach Darrell Walker has announced his team's 2022 non-conference schedule. The slate includes 13 games, including four at the Jack Stephens Center as well as in-state rivals Central Arkansas and Arkansas State. The non-conference schedule includes trips to Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, California and Alabama, facing three 2022 NCAA tournament teams.

"This is going to be a good schedule for us and really let us see where we are as a team after the first two months of the season," said coach Walker. "We have a good mix against some really good basketball programs that are consistent NCAA tournament teams, as well as some tough mid-major foes and our in-state rivals. This will be a good challenge as we prepare for our first season in the Ohio Valley Conference."

Series: Little Rock leads, 2-1
Last Meeting: Nov. 9, 2021 – Little Rock 69, Southern Illinois 66
Series Note: The fourth all-time meeting between the Trojans and Salukis as Little Rock won 69-66 last season in the season opener at the Jack Stephens Center … Little Rock's first trip to Carbondale since 2005, a 67-42 Southern Illinois victory.
 
Thurs., November 10 vs. Arkansas Baptist

Last Meeting: Nov. 14, 2021 – Little Rock 91, Arkansas Baptist 60
Series Note: Little Rock and Arkansas Baptist meet for the second time in as many seasons after last year's 91-60 Trojan victory at the Jack Stephens Center … The Buffaloes are the closest opponent for the Trojans as the two schools are separated by just four miles.

Series Note: The first of two meetings between the two schools this season to make up for the game missed on Dec. 14, 2021 due to flu issues … The Trojans are 3-2 at the Farris Center since making the jump to Division I, snapping a two-game skid with the 76-56 win in Conway in 2019.

Series Note: Little Rock makes the return trip to East Tennessee State as part of the home-and-home contract … The Trojans trailed by as many as 13 in the second half, but rallied to take a seven point lead before a late Buccaneer charge propelled ETSU to the victory at the Jack Stephens Center.

Series Note: The second game of the Indiana Hoosier Classic as the Trojans and Hoosiers meet for the third time overall … This will be Little Rock's third trip to Indiana's Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, falling 105-77 on Dec. 10, 1988 … It will be a reunion between head coaches Darrell Walker and Indiana's Mike Woodson as Walker was an assistant under Woodson with the New York Knicks from 2012-14.

Series Note: Little Rock and Miami (Ohio) will meet for the first time, playing at Millett Hall in the final game of the Indiana Hoosier Classic … It will be the second-straight year the Trojans will play a MAC school, defeating Northern Illinois 67-60 in Jacksonville, Florida last season, and the first game Little Rock will play in the state of Ohio since the 2011 NCAA First Round in Dayton.

Series Note: Little Rock returns to the FedEx Forum for the first time since 2019 after playing the Tigers for three-straight seasons (2017, 2018) … Little Rock held a first half lead in all three of those games before ultimately falling … It will be the second game this season head coach Darrell Walker squares off against a former NBA rival, facing Memphis' Penny Hardaway.

Series Note: The Trojans and Panthers meet for the second-straight season and the fourth time since 2010 as Little Rock has won four-straight in the series … Philander Smith led by as many as four in the second half of last year's game before Little Rock pulled away … The game will again feature two Arkansas Hall of Fame head coaches in Little Rock' Darrell Walker and Arkansas' Todd Day.

Series Note: The longest-standing rivalry in program history will continue as the Trojans and Red Wolves will meet as non-conference opponents following the Trojans' move to the Ohio Valley Conference … It is the first meeting between the two since the 2020-21 season as the two games in 2021-22 were canceled due to COVID precautions … Little Rock's last win in Jonesboro came in an 81-78 victory on Feb. 22, 2020 as five of the last seven meetings have been decided by four points or less.
