Chris Walker Claims Third OVC Freshman of the Week Honor

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the third time this season, Little Rock guard Chris Walker has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week.
 
Walker played a key role off the bench in helping the Trojans to an opening weekend split in OVC play, averaging nine points and five rebounds. Walker was one of four Trojans to score in double figures in the win over UT Martin, scoring 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from three point range with a block. He then scored seven points while leading Little Rock in both rebounds (seven) and assists (three) at Tennessee State Saturday.


 
The Wellington, Florida native has been a key figure off the bench for the Trojans this season, averaging 7.5 points and 3.2 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game. He has hit a team-high 24 three pointers, ranking fourth in three point percentage (34.8%) and is tied for third in assists with 24.
 
This is the third OVC Freshman of the Week honor for Walker, earning the weekly recognition on both November 21 and December 12. Along with the two Freshman of the Week honors for Ethan Speaker, the duo has combined to claim five of the eight weekly conference accolades this season.
 
Walker and the Trojans return home for a pair of OVC games this week, beginning with the first-ever meeting with fellow conference newcomer Lindenwood Wednesday, January 4. Opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
