LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Little Rock Soccer notches a tie against Southern Illinois Edwardsville to earn a point and keep conference tournament hopes alive.
What Happened
The first half was a back and forth battle as neither side could pull away early. The Cougars out shot the Trojans 6-3 as the majority of play was in the SIUe attacking third. The Trojans defense stayed strong and held the Cougars scoreless through one
In the second half, the Cougars jumped out in front as Sidney Christopher notched her second goal of the year in the 50th minute. Christopher's goal came off of a free kick awarded to the Cougars after a Trojans foul. Similarly,
Amaya Arias scored her second goal of the year off a nearly identical set piece play in the 54th minute.
The remainder of the game saw chippy playing from both sides as the teams eagerly fought for the game winning goal. The competitive play resulted in two yellow cards being given (one for
Serenity Thake and one for Maddy Clark).
The Trojans have another midweek bye this Thursday before heading to Charleston, IL to battle Eastern Illinois. With conference play dwindling to an end, the Trojans will look to secure three points and their first win.
