Swimming and Diving to Close Fall Home Slate with Tri-Meet

Diving board dedication ceremony to be held during the meet

LITTLE ROCK - The last meet of the fall semester is on tap for the Trojans, and this time around it'll be three times the fun with three teams at the Donaghey Aquatic Center. On Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the 1 meter board and 11 a.m. with the swim slate, there will be a tri-meet between St. Louis, Henderson State, and Little Rock as the Trojans throw down one more time before their annual mid-season invitational.

Little Rock will also be holding a dedication ceremony for the program's two new diving boards, thanks to Brenda Gannon and her generous donation. The ceremony is scheduled to take place after the 3 meter board competition.

"I'm excited about this meet, especially having extra support with it being our Parent's Weekend," said head coach Nathan Townsend. "It will also be a great check in before we compete again in two weeks. Early November typically is a challenge to go fast, but I think we are ready to bring out some of our best swims this season. As always, Saturdays are for the Trojans!"

It will be the second time that Henderson State will make an appearance in Little Rock this season, as the visiting Reddies took third at the All-Arkansas Invite that the Trojans hosted in September. While Henderson State is a strong program at the Division II level, Little Rock has won all eight of the last meetups between teams. As for St. Louis, the last four meetings have been split, with the Billikens taking the win in St. Louis last January. If the Trojans perform similarly to their recent outings, they have a solid shot at coming out on top overall.

Speaking of Trojans on top, several are making statements in the Missouri Valley Conference rankings early in the season. Cheryl Poulsen continues to own the fastest time in the league in the 50 free, while Jaelle Carlson checks in at number five in the 100 free. Once all teams in the conference have rested for their respective mid-season meets coming up this month, the path to making a statement at the championships in February will be much clearer.
