BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock seniors
Myron Gardner and
DeAntoni Gordon have been tabbed second team All-Ohio Valley Conference selections, announced today by the league office.
Gardner earns second team honors after leading the OVC with 15 double-doubles this season, tied for the second-most in a year in program history and sitting tied for eighth nationally. Gardner ended the regular season ranked 16th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (6.97), checking in at 24th in total rebounds (274) and 31st in rebounds per game (9.1), ranking second in the OVC in each category.
The Detroit, Michigan native was a force all season for Little Rock, scoring in double figures in 25 of the 30 games he played in with four 20-point games. He led the Trojans in rebounds (9.1 rpg) and steals (1.3 spg) while ranking second on the team in points (13.2 ppg), assists (3.6 apg) and minutes (30.8) and third in both three point (35.6%) and free throw percentages (75.5%).
Gordon was a consistent force all season for Little Rock and came on strong at the end of the season, including notching a career-high 35 points on 14-of-18 shooting with nine rebounds and six assists in the regular season finale. He finished the year with four double-doubles and 23 double-digit performances, scoring 20 or more points a team-best five times.
The Mobile, Alabama native ended the year 10th in scoring in OVC games (16.0 ppg) and was eighth in rebounding (6.2 rpg), third in field goal percentage (55.3%) and 15th in free throw percentage. Gordon was Little Rock's leading scorer averaging 13.7 points per game and also led the team in field goal percentage (53.5%), minutes (31.5 mpg) and blocks (19) while ranking second in rebounding (5.7 rpg) and free throw percentage (76.7%).
Gardner and Gordon become the first two All-OVC players in program history after Little Rock joined the league last summer. They become the 25th and 26th Trojans to earn all-conference honors since making the move to Division I, bringing the program total to 36 honorees, including seven under head coach
Darrell Walker as the duo both has a year of eligibility heading into 2023-24.
