Little Rock Heads West for Split Weekend of Action

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock track and field will send a small group of athletes westward to a pair of meets beginning Thursday and running through the weekend. Two Trojans will compete at the Sooner Invite and Multis while another handful will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Three Things to Know

1. Over the Beam
   The action this weekend gets underway Thursday in California when Josh Beam will race in the 3,000m Steeplechase beginning at 8:05 p.m. CT. Beam is one of two Trojans competing Thursday and one of five out in California representing Little Rock's Team among some of the nation's best athletes.
2. Elite Status
   The Mt. SAC Relays takes season and career highs and splits the collegiate competition into an Invitational Elite section and a Collegiate Open section. Matilda Horton (3,000m Steeplechase) will don the Maroon and Silver in the Elite race on Thursday while on Saturday, Johnathan Jones (high jump) and Nicholas Newby (800m) will battle in the elite level of competition.
3. Really, What Is There to Do in Norman, Oklahoma?
   Matthew Fox (decathlon) and Gabby Ayiteyfio (heptathlon) will have plenty to keep themselves busy with a trip to our neighboring state as the Trojan duo will compete at the Sooner Invite and Multis. Both Little Rock athletes will test their hand at the multi-event competition for the first time this outdoor season.
