LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Little Rock Men's Basketball hosts the defending Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Champions in Southeast Missouri on Saturday at The Jack Stephens Center. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. or approximately thirty minutes after the conclusion of the women's game. The coaches will be participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week.
As a part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week, the coaching staff will wear lapel pins and sneakers for the game. This season marks the 30th anniversary of the program that was founded by Norm Stewart in 1993. The partnership between the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society brings awareness to cancer screening.
The Trojans enter the contest 10-10 overall and 4-3 in the OVC after defeating Lindenwood 80-66 on Thursday. In that game,
Jamir Chaplin led the team in points with 22 and in rebounds with seven.
DeAntoni Gordon knocked down 17 points, while
Bradley Douglas and
Makhel Mitchell came off the bench to contribute 17 and 11 points respectively.
Overall for Little Rock,
KK Robinson leads the team in points averaging 17.3 per game, while Chaplin leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.7 per game.
Southeast Missouri enters the contest 7-13 overall and 2-5 in OVC action after losing Thursday 84-58 at UT Martin. Rob Martin leads the Redhawks in points, averaging 11.8 per game, while Josh Earley leads the team in rebounds averaging 4.1 per game.
This will be the seventh meeting between the two teams with the series tied at 3-3. SEMO has won the past two meetings winning 74-68 in Little Rock on January 7, 2023 and at home 99-98 on February 2, 2023.
The last win for Little Rock over the Redhawks was on December 17, 2002 at home. The Trojans won 81-56.
The first-ever meeting between the two teams was on December 30, 1991 in Little Rock. The Trojans won in overtime 85-77.
