Little Rock Swimming and Diving to Honor 12 Seniors at Tri-Meet Saturday

LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock swimming and diving team is set to celebrate Senior Day this Saturday in their final home meet of the season, honoring 12 swimmers as the Trojans welcome Vanderbilt and North Texas for a tri-meet to close the regular season.

The 1-meter board will kick things off at 10:15 a.m. at the Donaghey Aquatic Center, while swimming events will begin at 11 a.m. and the Senior Ceremony will take place around noon. View the full schedule of events below.

Little Rock will honor 12 swimmers that each have been instrumental for the program due to their grades in the classroom, performance in the pool, and leadership on the team: Delaney Crowder, Salina Damas, Kasey Dunn, Taylor Floyd, Ashleigh Green, Karina Harr, Aubry Matthews, Maci McCullough, Fer Moussier, Gabriella O'Neil, Cheryl Poulsen, and Lexie Shelton.

"Senior Meet is always a special one, so I'm looking forward to celebrating our 10 seniors and two 5th years," said head coach Nathan Townsend. "We did a special senior week for them and are doing a few new things for this meet to make it even more special."

"Additionally, we will be suiting up and doing 50s of stroke instead of 200s of stroke," added Coach Townsend. "I'm hoping for us to get a few more NIC cuts as well as going fast one last time before we start championship prep for conference. UNT and Vandy are great programs to race against as we wrap our dual meet season. As always, Saturdays are for the Trojans!"

The seniors will be racing familiar foes Vanderbilt and North Texas for their final meet at the Donaghey Aquatic Center, the second time that the Trojans have seen North Texas this season after finishing ahead of them at the House of Champions Invite, their mid-season meet. Last year, Little Rock fell 114-181 in North Texas and lost 72.50 to 170.50 at Vanderbilt in separate dual meets. The Trojans have never defeated either team, so a win on Senior Day would be monumental.

Suited up and ready for one final meet before conference, this Saturday will be a great chance for the Trojans to see where they are headed into conference and prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in February. Click here to view the full Little Rock swimming and diving schedule.
