Little Rock Swim and Dive Hits The Road For Rice Splash and Houston Diving Invitational

Trojan Swim and Dive Team Head To Texas to Compete in a Dual Swim and Diving Competition

LITTLE ROCK - The Trojan Ladies are heading to Texas for an exciting weekend of competition! The swim team will participate in the Rice Fall Splash, while the diving team will compete at the Houston Diving Invite. They'll face off against Houston and Rice, with North Texas joining the diving event. Fans can follow the action live through the MeetMobile app.

"Excited to race outdoors this weekend! Rice has a beautiful outdoor facility and a very talented team. It will be fun competing against them and Houston. We are wrapping up a very challenging training block in Rocktober. So I'm looking forward to how we respond to this opportunity as we get off the blocks over the next two days." said head Coach Nathan Townsend.

The divers will get to compete in their first away meet of the season. They will be competing in three events over the two days: 1meter, 3meter, and the team event: 6 dives - 1 from each category (front, back, reverse, inward, twist, handstand). 3 divers compete 2 dives each. 2 dives on 1 meter, 2 dives on 3 meter, 2 dives on platform.

"We head back to the pool where we competed at zones last year, so we know the facility will be a good one. I think this chance to compete against some great divers will set us up well for the rest of the year." said Diving Coach Chris Pape.

"We have a couple opportunities to do some new things this weekend as well. This will be the 1st time in school history that we will compete in the Diving Team event, which will hopefully be added to the NCAA Championships official events soon. We also have platform at this meet, so it gives our ladies the ability to test skills we don't normally get to train or compete. "

The team was voted to finish fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll ahead of weekend where several other teams in the conference will get their first stab at racing this season. As the results roll in, it will be a good test for the Trojans to see where they stand at this point in the season.
