Three Trojans record double-doubles in 3-1 loss at SEMO

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri — Just a few days after sweeping their first conference series of the season, Little Rock hit the road for another OVC contest at Southeast Missouri, where three players posted double-doubles against the Redhawks at Houck Field House. The Trojans took the opening set but fell short in the next three, falling to SEMO in four sets, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-19.

Jeila Fullerton recorded her team-leading ninth double-double of the season with 17 digs and 15 kills to go with three blocks. Dariana Valencia reached six double-doubles with a 17-assist, 12-dig effort, and Kaylee Smith hit a double-double for the fourth time this year with 14 assists and 12 digs.

Unfortunately, the Trojans (7-9 overall, 2-1 OVC) finished with a hitting percentage of just .127, their third lowest of the season. After hitting .220 in the opening set, Little Rock was less than .075 in the second and third frames, before finishing at .152 in the fourth. To counter, SEMO (5-9, 2-1) hit .169 for the match, but put up a blistering .371 in the fourth and deciding set.

Fullerton (.149), Kaila Harris (.133) and Bella Cherry (.057) entered the match as the Trojans' leaders in kills, but combined to hit just .116 (32 kills, 19 errors, 112 attacks). Harris finished with nine kills and eight digs while Cherry tallied eight kills, seven digs and four blocks.

Andrea Roman had a team-high 18 digs to go with nine assists, Vivian Lucumi added five kills and a pair of blocks, and A'lanae Margaritha finished with five blocks, her fourth consecutive contest with at least five blocks. Margaritha has 22 blocks over the past four matches.

From Missouri, Little Rock will head east to Morehead, Kentucky to face Morehead State (5-8, 1-1) this weekend in a conference series on Friday and Saturday. Match times are 5 pm and 1 pm CST. Both can be streamed on ESPN+.
